Programme Overview & Schedule

  • Admission

Part of your preadmission is you will get to speak with our Clinical manager to discuss your particular case and what we can provide. Part of this contact will include brief screening to ensure you needs are addressed and the best value for money and support is identified.

On admission all clients are assessed by a clinician and a case formulation prepared which is unique to each individual's needs. During this phase of treatment, the assessing clinician may decide to include another therapist in the treatment plan e.g. for EMDR, to work alongside them.

  • Individual Sessions

Each client will receive a minimum of 2 Individual sessions each week their focal therapist either a clinical psychologist or a psychotherapist.  In addition to ‘talk therapy’ all clients meet with our onsite psychiatrist, Dr Roshan Fernando for assessments, consultations, medication management and as necessary have ongoing assessment and support for mental health conditions.

  • Group Sessions

Each day (Monday to Friday) clients attend the group therapy elements of the programme.  In the morning there are 2 groups which all clients attend together.  The first group of the day is a psychoeducation group looking at areas such as depression, anxiety, emotional regulation.

The second morning group is a process group where individuals come together to share and explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe and supportive environment. The primary focus is on the interactions between group members rather than on individual members' problems or issues.

In the afternoon clients attend either a group focused on mental health or a Substance Use Disorder group which allows for a more in-depth exploration about specific issues.

  • 12 Step?

For clients who are interested or already involved in the 12 Step fellowship there is an opportunity to learn more about this.  There may be opportunity to journey into Colombo to attend AA/NA meetings with a chaperone, if agreed by their focal therapist. These meetings will give you some added perspective on what it is other people are going through in the more local communities and helps with motivation for continuing down your path of recovery.

  • Holistic Therapies

At The Sapphire, we offer a comprehensive range of holistic therapies designed to enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Our Mindfulness-Based Therapies (MBT) include meditation practices rooted in Buddhist traditions, such as Vipassana and Samatha meditation, which are known to reduce anxiety, depression, and improve concentration. We also provide Creative Therapy, utilizing art, music, movement, and expressive writing to help individuals express emotions and enhance mental health.

Additionally, we integrate physical therapies, including boxing, gym sessions, running, hiking, and swimming, to promote overall physical fitness and mental resilience. Our Yoga sessions further complement this approach by combining traditional techniques with modern psychological insights to support a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

  • Aftercare

Once a client has successfully completed treatment they are invited to attend the weekly online aftercare group facilitated by a member of the clinical team (a link will be provided on clients discharge plan).

As part of the discharge process, focal therapists assists clients to find qualified aftercare support and provide (with client’s consent) information of the clients treatment programme.

At additional cost, the client can continue sessions with their focal therapist 1:1 online.
