The House & Grounds at The Sapphire

An hour’s drive from Colombo and the International Airport, The Sapphire Sri Lanka sits on a beautiful hilltop, across 8 acres of grounds, a mix of jungle and lovingly landscaped tropical gardens.

The main house was the passion project of a Sri Lankan family returning to the island after diplomatic service in London in the 1930s. It is on a scale and of a grand aesthetic not seen anywhere else on the island and has now been painstakingly returned to its original glory.

Surrounding the house and grounds is several hundred acres of jungle and mixed plantation providing us a uniquely private and secluded setting.

  • Our minimum stay is designed to ensure chance of a meaningful recovery and is 4 weeks. Many of our clients choose to stay longer to give themselves the best chance of making significant change.

  • The total cost for a rehabilitation programme at The Sapphire Sri Lanka will depend on room & course design. Our starting price is USD 15,000 for a 4-week stay.

  • We don’t allow clients to have partners with them during their stay at The Sapphire Sr Lanka. We do structure times in the week when partners can visit and can make suggestions of good places for them to stay within easy reach.

  • The 12-step programme is one option that we can offer to clients of substance or alcohol addiction but it is not the single or predominant technique we use.

  • Every client is with us entirely voluntarily and so there’s no sense of us restricting them against their will.

    In terms of daily and weekly routines we structure programmes for each client individually to give them the best chance of a full and lasting recovery.

    Any proposed restrictions on coming and going would be made clear well in advance of you confirming your stay with us.

  • At The Sapphire SL, we prioritise our clients' comfort, safety, and peace of mind. Sri Lanka is known for its warm hospitality and is recognised as a safe destination for visitors from all over the world. To enhance your experience, we offer complimentary pick-up and drop-off services and provide chaperones for all off-site excursions.
